“Party of Innocence” is based on a childhood photo of me, my sister, and my cousin at a birthday party. At first glance, it’s a simple, joyful moment. But when I look at it now, the kind of closeness that only exists when you’re young, before life starts to pull people in different directions.
This painting is my way of holding onto that bond we had. Back then, we were always together, almost inseparable. Now, as we’ve grown older, things have changed, but not in a dramatic or painful way, but in that quiet, slow drift that happens with time. Distance, schedules, new responsibilities… they’ve all made it harder to keep that same closeness.
Party of Innocence isn’t just about nostalgia. It’s about love, memory, and the bittersweet beauty of growing up. It’s a thank-you to those moments that shape us, and a gentle reminder to cherish the people who knew us when life was still that simple.
